Judging Process
The LightHouse Awards recognize excellence in craftsmanship, design, innovation, and overall project execution across the Lowcountry building industry.
Each entry is evaluated through a fair and consistent judging process by a panel of experienced industry professionals.
Judging Timeline
- In-Person Judging: October 1–3, 2026
- Entrants will receive a detailed schedule in advance
- Judges will visit each project location (excluding Sales & Marketing entries)
Who Judges
Entries are reviewed by a panel of qualified industry professionals, selected for their expertise in:
- Construction
- Architecture & design
- Building systems and materials
Judges are chosen to ensure:
- Objectivity
- Consistency
- A well-rounded evaluation across all project types
How Entries Are Evaluated
Each project is judged on a combination of the following:
- Design & Aesthetics – Visual appeal and architectural quality
- Craftsmanship & Quality – Level of detail and execution
- Functionality – How well the space performs for its intended use
- Innovation – Creativity and originality
- Degree of Difficulty – Complexity and challenges of the project
- Overall Impression – The project's impact as a whole

Each entry is eligible for awards based on its category and scope. Judges may recognize multiple winners within each category.

Judging Format by Category
- In-Person Judging:
New Homes, Remodels, Light Commercial, Production Builders, Trade Partners, Special Features - Submission-Based Judging:
Sales & Marketing entries only
Scoring & Decisions
- Each entry is scored independently by judges
- Scores are compiled to determine winners
- The LightHouse Awards Committee reserves the right to:
- Reassign entries to appropriate categories
- Create or adjust award categories as needed
